Un jour, Kinomoto Sakura, une élève de quatrième année, découvre par hasard le livre mystérieux de Clow. En l'ouvrant et en prononçant à haute voix le nom de la Carte du Vent, Sakura éparpille les cartes dans les airs. Keroberos, le gardien des cartes, confie à Sakura la mission de récupérer les cartes dispersées. Accompagnée de son amie Tomoyo et de son rival Syaoran, Sakura se lance dans une aventure qui transformera sa vie à jamais.
