Makoto Ito est un jeune lycéen japonais qui débute son deuxième trimestre à la fictive académie de Sakakino. Lors de ses trajets quotidiens en train pour se rendre à l'école et en revenir, il devient fasciné par une camarade de classe, Kotonoha Katsura, qui emprunte aussi ce moyen de transport. Quand Sekai Saionji, une nouvelle camarade de classe, découvre son béguin secret pour Kotonoha, elle les aide à se présenter l'un à l'autre et, avec le temps, ils se rapprochent et décident de sortir ensemble.
