Le père de Shikada Kokonotsu est propriétaire d'une petite confiserie en zone rurale, et son rêve est que Kokonotsu reprenne un jour le commerce familial. Cependant, Kokonotsu rêve de devenir mangaka ! Un jour d'été, Shidare Hotaru, une fille mignonne mais excentrique issue d'une célèbre entreprise de confiseries, vient lui rendre visite. Il s'avère que le père de Kokonotsu est réputé et elle souhaite qu'il rejoigne son groupe familial. Mais il n'acceptera que si elle parvient à convaincre Kokonotsu de reprendre l'affaire familiale !
