Koyomi se réveille et voit Mayoi Hachikuji devant lui, la jeune fille qui aurait disparu vers l'au-delà. Elle lui dit qu'ils se trouvent actuellement à Avichi, les niveaux les plus profonds de l'enfer. Koyomi doute de la façon dont Mayoi connaissait le moment exact de sa mort et dans quel enfer il tomberait, quand Mayoi lui dit qu'elle était là pour le chercher
